Workshop description

We're teaming up with Neat Cakes to host a pop-up wax pendant making workshop alongside the most delectable cakes! The perfect opportunity to make some Christmas gifts for loved ones or yourself! Learn how to make a unique pendant using the ancient technique of lost wax casting. You'll use a soft moldable wax to sculpt a pendant of your own design using the various tools provided. The wax captures detailed textures so you can use almost anything to create patterns or textures. Feel free to bring along any objects from home that you might like to press into the wax to make an impression (think shells, textiles, etc.). You can even use your fingerprints! Your wax model will be cast in sterling silver after the class and finished/polished for you. What's included: The wax, tools, and finishing for one pendant PLUS a slice of cake baked by Jack from Neat Cakes! What's not included: Sterling silver chain ($25) and casting cost. The casting cost will depend on the weight of your pendant. Your finished model will be weighed at the end of class to determine the casting cost in silver (approx $4/gram + $5 casting fee). A small pendant weighs around 5 grams. Payment must be made at the end of the class. We will do our best to cast all pendants in time for Christmas. Pick up location is Osakana Jewellery in Totara Vale on the North Shore. Alternatively, you can opt for delivery via courier for an additional fee of $8.
