Workshop description

In this jewellery making workshop, you will learn the ancient technique of lost wax casting, which involves carving or sculpting a design from jeweller's wax. You'll create your unique design using carving tools, files, and sandpaper. The various tools allow you to make intricate designs as well as more organic textures. The possibilities with wax carving are endless! Sample rings will be available on the day for inspiration. You'll have the option to make a RING or a PENDANT. Please select which item you would like to make when you book. After the class, they will be cast in sterling silver (or 9K gold for an additional cost) and finished for you in the studio. Finished pieces will be ready for pick up in 2-3 weeks or posted to you via courier (for a fee). What's included: Wax, tools, sandpaper, casting fee for one piece, a chain for pendants, and finishing of one piece. What's not included: Metal cost (approximately $4/gram for sterling silver). A typical ring weighs approximately 5-10 grams, and a typical pendant weighs approximately 3-7 grams. Additional pieces can be cast for a $5 casting fee + metal cost. Gold price will be quoted on the day. NOTE: There is a minimum of 4 people for this workshop to run. We will let you know if the class will not go ahead because of insufficient numbers and you will receive a full refund.
